The Los Angeles Mission College Library contains many databases that can help you find Scholarly articles.
Accessing Databases:
1. Go to the Library Homepage at http://www.lamission.edu/Library/Home.aspx
2. Click on Library Resources
3. Scroll down and locate the Contemporary Issues heading
4. Click on "Opposing Viewpoints"
5. Enter your college ID# and your pin, which is your month and date of birth (for example if you were born on Feb. 22, your pin would be 0222).
1. Browse Topics
You are now in Opposing Viewpoints Database. You can browse topics by selecting a major topic list highlighted in red (see below).
2. Search Box
If you know your topic, you can type out the topic in the search box and click the search button.
3. Results
You will see a page full of results for your topic. The results page consists of Viewpoints, Academic Journals, Magazines and Newspapers. Select Academic Journals. Make sure to select the title "Academic Journals" to see the full list of articles.
5. Selecting a Source
Once you clicked on the title "Academic Journals" you will see another results page, displaying only Academic Journals. You will want to select Articles and not Book Reviews. Peruse through the titles and select an article that interests you.
6. Saving your documents
On the right hand side, the database will provide a set of Tools so you may save, download, email or print your article all for free! There is also a handy citation tool to help you cite your sources.
