Finding Articles in Library Databases

LAMC Databases: Find a full list here!

Library Databases provide access to articles from newspapers, magazines and  journals. The LAMC library pays a fee so student can access this information at no cost. We subscribe to over 40 databases, some general, such as EBSCOhost, and other subject-specific, such as Literature or History databases. Click on the blue button to see the full list.

Databases require a log-in: Your Username is your Student ID Number 

The Password/PIN is your birthday month/day: example, July 4 = 0704

Not sure where to start? Current issues databases cover a wide range of topics. They include popular and scholarly sources as well as viewpoint essays making them a great place to begin your research.

  • Opposing Viewpoints: (Gale) Topic overviews, viewpoints, full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, statistics, images, and videos organized into a user-friendly portal experience.
  • CQ Researcher: Reports written by experienced journalists, footnoted and professionally fact-checked. Full-length articles include an overview, historical background, chronology, pro/con feature, plus resources for additional research
  • SIRS Knowledge source (Proquest): Full-text periodical articles & government documents.
